World Press Photo Awards 2016
We are extremely proud to announce that Dario Mitideri’s work has been awarded 3rd Prize in the People category at the World Press Photo Awards 2016!
The annual photo contest celebrates documentary photography from across the globe – with this year’s competition drawing worldwide entries from 5,775 photographers in 128 countries (submitting 82,951 images!) Dario’s ‘Lost Family Portraits’ project is a hard-hitting series recently commissioned by M&C Saatchi and UK-based charity CAFOD. World-renowned documentary photographer Dario photographed the families living in the refugee camps of the Lebanon Bekaa Valley – situated on the Syrian border. The project has gained an outstanding amount of media coverage and has reached a worldwide audience. The World Press Photo celebrates the very best contributing images to the past year of visually compelling photojournalism, and we’re thrilled a portrait from Dario’s series has been chosen to join this year’s prize-winning exhibition. The World Press Photo exhibition is viewed by more than 3.5 million people worldwide and will be showcased in 100 cities across 45 countries during the year ahead. The exhibition opens in De Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam, on 16 April 2016 and will reach London’s Southbank Centre later this year. We’d like to thank Dario for all of his hard work on this project, and congratulate him again on his success!
